Everyone has overdone it with a meal at one time or another. The ginger in this stomach-calming tonic can help with a little relief after an overindulgent meal.

Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

3 cups filtered water

2 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced

4 fresh rosemary sprigs

2 cinnamon sticks

Peel from 1 navel orange

Peel from 1 lemon

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (with the mother)

¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan or kettle. Once boiling, remove from heat and add sliced ginger, rosemary sprigs, cinnamon sticks, and citrus peels. Use a wooden spoon to lightly muddle the ginger and rosemary. Let steep for 10 minutes, then strain the water through a fine mesh strainer into a large measuring cup or serving glasses.

  2. For a warm beverage, divide the infused water between two mugs. Add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of orange juice to each mug. Stir and garnish with an orange slice and cinnamon stick.

  3. For a chilled beverage, let the infused water cool for another 5 to 10 minutes. Then, divided between two glasses filled with ice. Add 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of orange juice to each glass. Stir and garnish with an orange wedge and cinnamon stick. (For an extra decorative touch, make cranberry ice cubes ahead of time. Simply fill an ice cube tray with cranberries and filtered water and freeze.)
